Like Ativan, Xanax is also used for treating anxiety disorders. However, it can also be effective for panic disorders and anxiety caused by depression. Being a benzodiazepine as well, Xanax shares the feature of being only for short-term anxiety attacks, but it can be used long-term for panic attacks.
